  Lonesome Dove with Tommy Lee Jones as Captain Woodrow F. Call and Robert Duvall as Gus McCrae, was an instant classic.  This was probably the best "Made for T.V. Movie" ever done.  

     Tommy Lee Jones/Woodrow Call's hat was what we call an open crown, meaning no dents or creases.  This is actually how all hats from the factories until the 1930's.  The shape in the crown (the top) usually came about
