This is one of the more popular styles worn in Vietnam. Both Stetson and Resistol made this tall pinch front at that time. They could be had in 3 ½” or 4” brims with or without ribbon binding. A 4” raw edge was probably more common on this hat. The black and gold officer cord is correct. The gold-plated sabers are smaller and brighter but the gilt brass sabers are larger and probably more popular. Gilt brass was used by Kilgore in apocalypse now.
