This look was by far the most popular with Union Cavalry and is just like what was worn by Sam Elliot as General Buford in the movie Gettysburg and it is same hat as the Confederate #28. Hey, the two sides had more in common than just the hat styles. The Union Cavalry seldom put one side of the brim up except at the beginning of the war with the as issued hats.
